How it works

To gain access to OpenBase, contact support to get a link to sign up.

To search the Parts Standard, click the button at the top of the page labelled “Search the Parts Standard”. From here, you can search for part types by typing the name into the search bar. You will see a list of part types, with their ID, name, and description. To see more details about a part type, click its name. This will take you to a page with more details enumerated. It also includes a list of topics (i.e. discussions) where this part type has been discussed. You can click on the topic name to go to the topic. You can also create a new topic by clicking “New Topic”. This will bring up a dialog to create a new topic in the Part Type Requests category, with data about the part type pre-filled.

To navigate the category tree, click “Category tree” in the top right of the page after clicking “Search the Parts Standard”. From here, you will see a list of all categories. You can click on each category to see subcategories within that category, then click on subcategories to see part types within that subcategory. You can then click on a part type to see more details about that part type.

To search the Vehicle Standard, click the button at the top of the page labelled “Search the Vehicle Standard”. From here, you can search for vehicles by typing your search term into the search bar. It is able to recognise terms like makes, models, years (including ranges like "2010-2013"), series, and engine codes. You will see a list of vehicles. To see more details about a vehicle, click on its ID. This will take you to a page with more details enumerated. It also includes a list of topics (i.e. discussions) where this vehicle has been discussed. You can click on the topic name to go to the topic. You can also create a new topic by clicking “New Topic”. This will bring up a dialog to create a new topic in the Vehicle Standard category, with data about the vehicle pre-filled.
